Moses Waweru is a coach, official, and sports development leader actively contributing to the growth of American Football and Flag Football in Kenya.
A proud alumnus of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), he was entrusted with the role of Head Coach in 2022 while still a student — becoming the first to hold the position under such circumstances. During his tenure, he revitalized the men’s team into a competitive unit and later established the university’s women’s team in 2024, expanding participation and inclusivity within the program.
In 2023, he participated as a coach in the NFL National U12 Championships in Nairobi, leading teams from Juja St. Peters Academy and Green Edgewood Academy, both of which he helped build from the grassroots level. He earned an International Flag Football Coaching Badge in April 2025 after attending a coaching clinic in Accra, Ghana, and went on to represent Kenya as Head Coach of the U13 National Team at the NFL Flag Continental Championships in Cairo, Egypt, where Kenya finished as runners-up.
Beyond coaching, Moses has been an active flag and tackle football official since 2022, officiating numerous local competitions. In April 2025, he received International IFAF Officiating Certification in Accra, Ghana, and made history as the first East African official selected to officiate at an IFAF International Flag Football Tournament during the Continental Championships in Cairo.
Since 2024, he has served as the Director of Competition and Youth Game Development, playing a key role in structuring competitions and advancing youth pathways for the sport in Kenya.
