American football is steadily gaining traction in Kenya, thanks to the efforts of the Kenya Federation of American Football (KFAF). The federation is actively working to introduce both flag football and tackle football to new institutions, despite limited resources. By encouraging schools and universities to join as members and compete in sanctioned events, KFAF is building a foundation for the sport’s future.
Recent milestones include the successful introduction of flag football to over 3,000 students at East African universities and a partnership with NOCK, set to culminate in full affiliation by April 2025. Additionally, Kenya has been included in the IFAF Africa program, providing young athletes with pathways to international opportunities.
With initiatives like youth leagues (U12, U14, U17) and a 11-team tackle football program in the works, Kenya’s American football scene is on the rise, promising exciting prospects for players and fans alike.
